Music
Music has always been a meaningful part of my life. Over the years, my journey with music has evolved through learning, pauses, rediscovering it again, and continuing to grow with deeper appreciation. Through Swara Canvas Studio, I hope to share my love for music and create a welcoming space for others who wish to explore and learn.
My Journey with Carnatic Music
My introduction to Carnatic music began during my childhood. I had the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of Carnatic music for few years. However, due to frequent transfers during that time, I had to discontinue my lessons.
Years later, when I began working, I felt a strong desire to reconnect with music and restarted my Carnatic music training. Although life responsibilities led to another pause, my passion for music remained constant.
After moving to the United States, I have started learning Carnatic music again, continuing my journey with renewed dedication and enthusiasm. Returning to this tradition has been a deeply fulfilling experience, allowing me to reconnect with the beauty of classical music and devotional singing.
Light Music – Bhaava Geete
Alongside classical music, I have also been learning Bhaava Geete, a beautiful genre of Kannada light music known for its expressive and poetic compositions.
I have been learning Bhaava Geete for around ten years, with a gap of few years in between. This style of music emphasizes emotion, lyrical expression, and melody, and it has helped me develop a deeper connection with music and storytelling through song.
Telugu Film Music
Currently, I am also learning advanced Telugu film music. This training helps me explore modern musical styles, vocal techniques, and expressive singing in contemporary compositions.
Learning film music alongside classical and light music has broadened my musical perspective and strengthened my overall understanding of voice, melody, and performance.
Music Workshops and Learning Experiences
I had the privilege of attending a workshop conducted by the legendary singer K.S. Chithra, where she shared insights on expression, devotion, and the emotional depth that music can bring to a performance.
I also attended a music workshop at Hariharan Studio, where I had the opportunity to learn more about vocal techniques and musical interpretation.
